A ghost, a doll, and the town of Penwyll

Withering Realms world map and Penwyll surroundings in the Early Access build

Withering Realms is a single-player horror action RPG from Moonless Formless, the solo developer behind Withering Rooms. Steam Early Access opens on 2 September 2026 with a full main story, seven dungeons, more than fifty weapons, seventy talismans, and a bestiary of 110 monsters. You explore Penwyll from a 3/4 top-down view as Clover, a nine-year-old ghost, and the two-metre doll she pilots. Start with the Getting Started guide, then read combat, the opening walkthrough, and the weapon ranking. Night routes, Althea, and system requirements live in their own hubs.

Quick start

A practical order of operations for the September 2026 Early Access build.

  1. 1

    Learn the four-arm loop

Read the combat guide before you dump levels. The doll’s missing right arm, left-hand tools, Clover’s catalyst, and consumables all fire independently.

  2. 2

    Clear Beynon House, then Saintswood

The opening walkthrough covers the intro dungeon, the first field, birdcage puzzles, and the first two bosses without spoiling later Penwyll.

  3. 3

    Pick a right-arm craft

Compare the weapon ranking for the Pivoting Greatsword, Chain Rock, Machinegun, Flamethrower, and Enchanted Candelabrum before you spend scarce parts.

  4. 4

    Revisit at night

The night cycle guide explains Clover’s faint glow, lighting loadouts, and why perimeter routes change after dark.

  5. 5

    Send useful feedback

Check Early Access scope and the settings / bug-report page so slash-key reports include a screenshot and a save.

FAQ

Wiki FAQ

Quick answers for Penwyll, the doll, and Early Access.

Where should a new player start?

Follow Getting Started, then the opening walkthrough and controls. Spend levels only after you understand the combat loop.

Is Withering Realms a sequel or a roguelike?

It is a standalone story in the same universe as Withering Rooms. Some rooms shuffle on entry, but death does not wipe items, crafts, or story progress. See the game overview and Early Access notes.

Is this an official wiki?

No. This is a fan-made guide site. Confirm dates, patches, and language support on the Steam page and witheringrealms.com. Community links live on the links hub.

Which languages does this wiki support?

English, French, German, and Spanish. The Steam Early Access build itself is English-only; extra game languages are planned for the 2027 full release.

Is Withering Realms multiplayer?

No. Withering Realms is a single-player campaign with full controller support. Console versions are planned for the 2027 full release, not the Steam Early Access window.

What languages does the Early Access build ship with?

Steam lists English for interface, audio, and subtitles. Additional languages are planned for the 2027 full release. This wiki is written in English, French, German, and Spanish as a fan resource.

Ready for Penwyll?
